The movie which has been released in cinemas in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand has performed tremendously well and it is expected to do more in the Nigerian market, as the producer, director and writer are all Nigerians. The movie which is expected to become a record-breaking film features stars like BAFTA award winner and Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, BAFTA award winner Thandie Newton, Genevieve Nnaji, O.C. Ukeje, Zack orji and Onyeka Onwenu. Based on the novel by a prominent Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, it was initially banned by Nigeria’s film censorship board because the movie partially takes place during the Biafran War.
It was later approved by the Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB).
