Men Who Kidnapped Jonathan's Uncle In Bayelsa Confessed

Six kidnappers of President Goodluck Jonathan’s uncle Chief Nitabai Inengite confessed to the crime. According to Punch, all the suspect were yesterday paraded to the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters, they include: Eldred Jonah, 30 Raphael Inengesi, 32; Ibeabuchi Inya, 29; Oreva Abridi 29; Tammy Agbai, 29 and Felix Onuoh, 48.

The DSS Deputy Director, Public Relations, Marilyn Ogar, revealed that the University of Jos student Jonah confessed to organizing the kidnap of the victim in February and providing a take-off grants of N40,000 used for getting arms and arranging logistics.

The gang of abductors reportedly consisted of two teams: the land team and the waterside team. Ogar revealed that Inengite was whisked away in a Honda SUV to Onuegbu waterside, then transferred into a waiting speedboat and taken to the creeks. Continue...
Another suspect, a 48-year-old native doctor Felix Onuoh said that he provided charms and herbal fortification for the gang in fear for his and his family’s life.

"… they wanted to kidnap someone and wanted charm for protection. The moment they said that, their faces changed and I was afraid that if I don’t cooperate with them, they may harm me and my family because I was with my family at the time, so I agreed to help them and I asked them to pay me 10 per cent of the ransom."

It would be recalled that Jonathan’s relative was released by a special security squad more than 2 weeks after the kidnap. The 70-year-old man would later narrate his ordeal and describe his experience in the hands of the captors as "traumatic".
