Mourinho - Chelsea Lacked Killer Instinct at Goodison Park

Ironically, it was Mourinho’s first Premier League loss since returning to coach Chelsea and Roberto Martinez’s first victory since taking over the coaching job of ‘The Toffees.’ Steven Naismith’s first-half stoppage time goal made the difference as Chelsea, who bossed the game all through the period, failed to convert any of their chances.
   “If you don’t score a goal what you create means nothing. It is a simple story,” said Mourinho.


   “You have to put the ball in the net. Artistic football without goals is no good. We didn’t have killer instinct.”

One of Africa’s all-time best striker frontman Samuel Eto’O of Cameroon earned his debut for ‘The Blues’ and came only inches to getting a goal at Goodison Park, but Mourinho spared him the blame.
   “You can’t speak about sharpness. I don’t think it is a question of sharpness.

   “The ball (Andre) Schurrle passed to Eto’O in the first-half was a slow pass. If it was a fast pass, Eto’O scores with an open goal but Gareth Barry got back.
   “These kinds of details are not about sharpness of players.”
The Portuguese tactician insists Chelsea should have converted one of their hosts of opportunities.

   “We didn’t deserve to lose because we were the best team, because we played the best football, dominated the whole game, because we had 21 shots and we risked everything we could. In that sense it is fair to say we deserved to win the game.

   “The other way to look at it is that a team that has 21 shots, some of them easy shots situations to score and then don’t score and makes a mistake in the last minute of the first-half- Maybe with that I should say we deserve to lose.”
