Bale Scores on Real Debut

New Real Madrid signing Gareth Bale opened his goal scoring account in a 2-2 draw against Villareal on Saturday. Gareth Bale Scores on Real Madrid Debut. The Welshman, signed for £85.3m from Tottenham Hotspur, played 62 minutes of the match which was Real’s first draw of the season. The 24-year-old winger leveled for the Los Blancos in the first-half after Cani had pulled the hosts ahead.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti, prior to the match, insisted he would feature the world most expensive footballer despite not having played much football this season, and the player impressed the traveling fans. The Wales international converted a Daniel Carvajal’s pull back from inside the six-yard box in the 33rd minute and almost scored a second after the break but fired his shot inches over the bar from a long range, before he was replaced by Angel Di Maria after the hour mark.


Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said: “I think he (Bale) is happy to score his first for Real Madrid. He played in a difficult match and he played well, showing his good attitude.

“It was a hard match for everyone.”

Real will be in Istanbul for their first Champions League Group Stage game against Galatasaray on Tuesday.
