The Oyo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of Accord Party, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja against the election of Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Power Generation Drops To 660MW At Egbin Power Plant
Power generation has dropped from 813 megawatts to 660 at the Egbin Power Plant in Lagos State, an official said on Tuesday.
The plant, the nation’s biggest power generating outfit, has the capacity to contribute about 1,000 megawatts to the national grid.
An authoritative source at the plant told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the drop was as a result of the ongoing maintenance of Egbin lines by the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC).
The plant, the nation’s biggest power generating outfit, has the capacity to contribute about 1,000 megawatts to the national grid.

Nigerians have reacted to last week’s announcement by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) that a new tariff regime would become effective from November 1.

The four tribunals, in separate judgments yesterday, upheld the petitions by candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election and ordered rerun in the affected constituencies.
The nullification of the 20 lawmakers’ election came about 48 hours after the Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal also annulled the election of Governor Nyesom Wike and ordered a rerun.

New Task Force Brigade Established To End Boko Haram, Says Buratai
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Monday said that the new 29 Task Force Brigade in Beneshiek, Borno State, was strategically established to end insurgency.

The River state House of Assembly election petition tribunal has reportedly nullified the election of 10 House of Assembly members in the state. The judgment was delivered on Monday, October 26. This was disclosed on the Twitter handle of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Lagos To Acquire Three Helicopters To Battle Crime, Gridlocks
The Lagos State Government has concluded plans to procure three helicopters next month to enable security agencies tackle criminal activities.

Processed meats – such as bacon, sausages and ham – do cause cancer, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Its report said 50g of processed meat a day – less than two slices of bacon – increased the chance of developing colorectal cancer by 18%. BBC reports:
Meanwhile, it said red meats were “probably carcinogenic” but there was limited evidence. The WHO did stress that meat also had health benefits.
