N29billion Fraud: Ex-Governor Nyako Son Get N350m Bail

Justice E. Chukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday, July 10, 2015 admitted former governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, his son, Senator Abdul-Aziz Nyako, Abubakar Aliyu and Zulkifikk Abba to bail in the sum of N350 million (Three Hundred and Fifty Million Naira) each.

Nyako was arraigned together with his co-accused on July 8, 2015 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a 37-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, stealing, abuse of office and money laundering to the tune of N29 billion (Twenty-Nine Billion Naira).

Alleged $2.3million fraud: Ohakim secures N270million bail

Former Governor of Imo State, Mr. Ikedi Ohakim, who was on Wednesday, remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, after he was arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over money laundering charge, yesterday, regained his freedom.=
Trial Justice Ademola Adeniyi granted Ohakim bail to the tune of N270million.
Ohakim who was Imo state governor between May 2007 and May 2011 is answering to a three-count criminal charge bordering on money laundering, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds.

He was alleged to have looted the sum of $2.290m from the state treasury and used same to acquire a mansion at  the Asokoro District of Abuja.

Shock and confusion pervaded Okwoyi village, Isieke community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State as a 15-year-old girl committed suicide after being ganged-raped.
The deceased, Comfort Uche-Ume, a native of Amaeke Abam in Arochukwu LGA of the state, was allegedly raped by three boys; Ndubuisi Wogu, Chinaza Ufomadu, and Francis Onwoboro now on the run, Punch reports
The deceased was a JSS 3 student of Isieke Community Secondary School and had just finished writing the “Junior WEAC” exam, according to a source.

Boko Haram Releases 1st Beheading Video Since Joining ISIS (Watch)

Boko Haram members have released their first ISIS like video showing the gruesome beheading of a captured military officer.

In the 10mins video, the sect members are seen engaging the military in a gun battle and then the video shows them standing proudly next to the corpses of the military officers killed and the video ends with the gruesome beheading of a captured military officer.

The man who spoke in the video, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi who is a member of ISIS, said;
"We announce to you to the good news of the expansion of the caliphate to West Africa. Our caliph has accepted the pledge of loyalty of our brothers of Boko Haram so we congratulate Muslims and our jihadi brothers in West Africa.'

50 Cent ordered to pay Rick Ross' baby mama $5 Million for S'ex tape leak

The Manhattan Supreme Court has ordered 50 Cent to pay Lavonia Leviston, Rick Ross' baby mama, $5 million in damages for uploading her sex tape to the internet in 2009.

According to reports, $2.5 million of the sum is for "violating her civil rights for using her image without her permission," and the other $2.5 million is for "intentional infliction of emotional distress."
Leviston's lawyer originally sought $20 million total in damages.

Politicians often try to outdo each other by making promises they can’t keep and do not intend to keep, in order to win votes before an election. That is just how politics works around the world.

That is what happened this year too when we had the presidential election. Both former president, Goodluck Jonathan and incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari, made outrageous promises as they campaigned round the country.

A lot of those promises were unrealistic and some even egregious, like when the All Peoples’ Congress (APC) promised to create three million jobs in a year. But at the time people really wanted a change and so they voted for them anyway.

Boko Haram attacks worse under Buhari - Ekweremadu

The Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, on Thursday said the Boko Haram insurgency had worsened under President Muhammadu Buhari. Ekweremadu said the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration had almost rolled back Boko Haram and its activities in the North-East.
The deputy senate president also expressed the fear the insurgents could also attack Abuja and the southern part of the country soon.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, he chose not to answer questions on his alleged involvement in the forgery of senate rules but said he had been worried about the renewed attacks by Boko Haram.

FG has moved Boko Haram prisoners out of South East

 The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, on Thursday explained why the planned protest by traders against the relocation of some Boko Haram suspects to Anambra State did not hold in the state.

He told journalists during an inspection tour of ongoing projects in Abakaliki that since the suspects had already been taken to Abuja, the protest was unnecessary.
He said, “The traders have the right to protest but there was no need for the protest because we (South-East governors) had enjoined the Federal Government not to relocate any Boko Haram prisoner to any prison in the South-East. Those suspects brought to Anambra State have been taken back to Abuja.

Naira Rapidly Drops To 235 Against Dollar

The naira fell further to a new record low of 235 to the dollar at the parallel market on Thursday, as dollar shortages persisted, foreign exchange dealers said.
The President, Association of Bureau De Change Operators, Aminu Gwadabe, said people were holding dollars to protect themselves against further naira weakness. The naira, however, ended at 196.95 on the official interbank market on Thursday. The local currency had fallen to 233.5 earlier in the week.
The naira has been on the ropes on the parallel market since the Central Bank of Nigeria introduced new measures two weeks ago restricting importers from sourcing the greenback from the interbank market, shifting dollar demand to the black market.

Police Detail How Bukola Saraki Used Credit Card To Launder Stolen Funds

SaharaReporters has received exclusive documents of a police investigation revealing how Nigeria’s current Senate President, Bukola Saraki, made a series of questionable deposits and illegal withdrawals from banks in order to launder stolen funds through shell companies and an American Express credit card. The report was authored by a team of detectives at the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian police headed by a Commissioner of Police.

The police investigation found that Mr. Saraki, during his tenure as Governor of Kwara State, was the “prime promoter” of several shell companies, including Skyview Properties Ltd., Limkers Ltd., Dicetrade Ltd., Carlisle Properties and Investment Ltd., and the parent company known as Joy Petroleum.

BREAKING: Buhari, Osinbajo take 50% pay cut

President Muhammadu Buhari will only receive 50 per cent of the salary paid to his predecessor. The President’s decision to take a 50 per cent pay cut was conveyed to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation yesterday by the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Mr. Nebolisa Emodi, a statement by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on media and publicity read.
“I write to forward the completed IPPIS registration form of Mr. President and to draw your kind attention to Mr. President’s directive that only 50% of his salary be paid to him,” Mr. Emodi wrote in the letter with reference number PRES/81/SGF/17.

Trump also has the largest share of second preference votes, according to the Economist/YouGov poll, with 12 per cent of candidates choosing him as a backup, over Scott Walker on eight per cent.

Four kids between the age of 9 and 15 has been discovered were part of the perpetrators of the bomb attack that rocked the city of Yola, the capital of Adamawa state.

Idowu said this while responding to a suit filed by her 45-year-old husband whom he had been married to for 12 years.
