US Set To Equip Nigeria In Fight Against Boko Haram

The US assistant secretary of state for African affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, and commander US Africa command (USAAFRICOM), David Rodriguez, disclosed this on Thursday during a joint online press conference.

JAMB To Reveal The Admission Cut-Off Marks On July 14

According to NAN, The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it will hold its 2015 policy meeting on July 14, to determine cut-off marks for admission of candidates into tertiary institutions.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Fabian Benjamin, the board’s Public Relations Officer, and made available to newsmen yesterday in Lagos.

‘’The 2015 Policy Meeting which usually comes up with the cut-off point has been fixed for 14th July, 2015. This meeting defines criteria for the year’s admissions into higher institutions,’’ it said.

Wike has squandered N60bn in 30 days-APC

The Rivers  State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Nyesom Wike,of squandering over N60 billion in his first 30 days as governor of the oil rich state.They broke down the expenditure to an average of N2 billion per day.
The accusations were laid down in a statement by Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya..

“In what is clearly a tale of the absurd, Wike’s rubber stamp State House of Assembly has approved a whopping sum of N30bn within 30 days for expenditure without any project attached.
“Apart from this N30bn, the administration of Rt. Hon. Chbuike Amaechi left the sum of N7.5bn, plus the N23bn released to the state from the Federation Account and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), making the total funds available for Wike to squander over N60bn within 30 days,” Ikanya said.

Most Recent Attack: Boko Haram Kills 145 In Borno Mosques, Villages

The fighters of the dreaded Boko Haram sect laid a siege to some Borno communities between Tuesday and Wednesday night and killed 145 persons and injured several others. Some of the deceased were killed in some mosques where the villagers had gone to pray after breaking Wednesday’s fast.

The attacks occurred in some villages in Monguno and Kukawa local government areas of the state.

The Tuesday attack was on Musarram village, located 8km away from Monguno town, in northern part of the troubled state, where 48 males where picked out by the insurgents and killed, according to a resident of the village and some fleeing residents.

A top ranking Islamic State leader who helped facilitate suicide bombings and raised funds and fighters for the jihadi group has been killed by a coalition air-strike in Syria, the Pentagon revealed.
Tariq bin Tahar al-Awni al-Harzi was killed in the northern city of Shaddadi on June 16, Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said in a statement.

His brother Ali, an IS recruiter and person of interest in the 2012 Benghazi attack, was killed by an air strike in Iraq a day earlier.

Washington had put a $3 million bounty on the head of Harzi, a 33-year-old Tunisian, and described him in the past as the IS group’s “emir of suicide bombers.”

Boko Haram Prisoners Transfer To Anambra Was Concluded Under Jonathan – Obiano

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, yesterday, said the transfer of Boko Haram prisoners to Ekwulobia prisons in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, was concluded in 2012 under former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

The governor, who spoke through his Senior Special adviser on Political Matters, Mr. Chinedu Obidigwe, said the decision was taken during a seminar organized for officers and men of the Nigeria Prison Service, NPS, in which Ekwulobia and Kuje prisons in Anambra and Abuja capital territory respectively, were chosen as prisons for the Boko Haram inmates.
