Indonesian Military Plane Crashes Kill Over 100 People

An Indonesian air force transport plane crashed Tuesday into a residential neighborhood in the country’s third-largest city of Medan, killing dozens of people.

Television footage showed the wreckage of the downed C-130 Hercules, a crumpled burning car and a shattered building that local media said contained a spa.

Smoke billowed from the site and several thousand people milled nearby. North Sumatra police chief Eko Hadi Sutedjo told reporters that the plane was carrying 50 people based on its manifest. He said 37 bodies have been transported to Medan’s Adam Malik hospital and include a child who was probably about a year old.

Security Agents Comb South East For Operators Of Radio Biafra

This is according to tribune. Security agents in the country are currently combing the entire South East to track down the source of Radio Biafra broadcasts and possibly apprehend all those behind the station.

Already, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has described Radio Biafra as a pirate radio station and accused it of transmitting seditious and divisive content, contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian Broadcasting Code and the law.

BREAKING: Atahiru Jega Hands Over To New INEC Chairman, Ahmed Wali

Atahiru Jega has handed over the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to his successor, Ahmed Wali, The Nation reports. Wali who took over from Jega on Tuesday, June 30, is a Muslim from Sokoto state, in the North-West Nigeria.

He was a lecturer at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, before his appointment.
Wali would be faced with matching the achievements recorded by Jega who did incredibly well while in charge of the electoral body.

JUST IN! Court Adjourns Tinubu’s Case Again Over 150bn Libel Suit

The N150 billion libel suit filed by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu against the management of the African Independent Television (AIT), has been adjourned again.

Justice Iyabo Akinkugbe of an Ikeja high court, Tuesday June 30, adjourned the suit to September 30, for further direction on the court processes served by counsel to both parties in the suit.

Leadership makes reference to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Tinubu had instituted the suit against Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT, for airing of a documentary titled ‘lion of Bourdilion’, where he alleged that the documentary was libelous and aimed at tarnishing his image.

Fresh Ebola Case Reported In Liberia

According to the Liberian Deputy Health Minister, Tolbert Nyensuah, a 17 year old man died of the deadly virus. And they are saying it's possible he infected close friends or relatives before he died.

"A new case of Ebola has been reported in Margibi County. The person has died and was confirmed positive before death. He has been buried" Nyensuah said. He added that the man’s body had been buried safely, in accordance with guidelines to check the spread of Ebola.

Police Corporal Arrested For Killing Two Women At Iuneral In Edo State

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a police corporal for shooting two women to death during a funeral at Ivhiokhile quarters, Fugar, in the Etsako Central Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that one of the women, Sandra Imhaku, was hit by a bullet from the yet-to-be-identified police officer’s gun last Saturday.
The gun went off while the cop was trying usher his principal, said to be a traditional ruler, into a vehicle.

The corporal was said to have held his rifle with one hand, while opening the door for the traditional ruler to enter his car as they were about to depart from the venue.
