President Buhari To Host 4-Heads Of State Today In Abuja

As part of the strategy to fight the Boko Haram insurgency, President Muhammadu Buhari will today host a meeting of Heads of State and Presidents of the Lake Chad Basin Commission in Abuja.

In a bid to perfect Nigerian position for today’s meeting, President Buhari yesterday held a closed door meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh and the Chief of Naval Staff, Usman Jubrin, at Defence House.

Former China Security Chief Gets Life Imprisonment Over Corruption

Former China Security Chief Zhou Yongkang has been given life imprisonment after he was found guilty of bribery, abuse of power and intentionally disclosing national secrets.

Zhou Yongkang who pleaded guilty at a closed-door trial in the northern city of Tianjin was until his retirement in 2012 one of China's most powerful men.

Mr Zhou was charged in April, nine months after a formal investigation was announced.

Dangote Promise To Help Lagos Get 24 Hours Light

The President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote yesterday during a courtesy visit to Lagos State Governor has disclosed that he would help the state get 24hours electricity and the people wouldn’t have to suffer over light anymore. Alinko disclosed this to journalists shortly after meeting with the Governor.
“We also assured him that we are going to do a Gas Pipeline from Bonny (River State) to pass under the sea (to Lagos.) When it is completed, Lagos state will never ever experience blackout. There will be electricity 24 hours a day,” the richest man in Africa said.

Former Employee Kidnap Boss’ Daughter Who Finally Dies In Their Custody, Police Apprehends Them

The police in Ogun State have arrested three suspected kidnappers for allegedly killing an 11-year-old girl, Aminat Ishola.

The suspects ─ Babatunde Aderonmu, Sina Damilare, and Kola Taofeek ─ were said to have kidnapped the minor, and administered a powdery substance on her while she was in their den, which later resulted in her death.

Aminat, a primary five pupil was reportedly kidnapped at Arugudu in the Ijoko area of Sango in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area on May 21.

Gov. Ambode Declares Friday Public Holiday

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has confirmed that Friday, June 12 will be observed as a public holiday to celebrate the annulment of the June 12, 1993 elections.

Daily trust informs that, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ambode, Mr. Habib Aruna, in a statement issued on Thursday declared the day as a public holiday which it said “marked a watershed in the annals of transparent, free and fair elections in the country.”
