Nigeria Demands N84m Damages For Xenophobic Attacks

Nigerian government is to demand N84 million from South Africa as damages for its citizens who are victims of the xenophobic attacks in the country. Aminu Wali, Minister of Foreign Affairs made this known in Abuja on Tuesday, April 28, while briefing the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on his visit to South Africa.

According To Premium Times, the minister explained that Nigerians in the country did not suffer serious casualty as a result of the violence.
Giving a rundown of damages ​suffered by Nigerians, he said: “Total of Nigerians wounded or hospitalized is two, shops looted and damaged five, number of displaced Nigerian men is two, number of displaced women six, and number of displaced children eight.

Indonesia executes 8 prisoners including 4 Nigerians, spares Filipino woman at last minute

Indonesia has executed 8 of the 9 people convicted for drug offenses. Ogun State, Chinese firm sign $3.2billion light rail contract

The Ogun State Government has signed a $3.2bn light rail project contract with the China Civil Engineering Construction Company.

The contract was signed on Monday at the governor’s office at Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, and the Consul General,  the Peoples Republic of China in Lagos, Kan Liu, was present.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who said the light rail would cover both inter-city and intra-city routes, explained that when operational, it would carry passengers and goods across major cities such as Abeokuta, Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, Agbara and Idiroko among others.

FG Gets N1.21bn EU, Japan Grants To Fight Insurgency

The Federal Government has received two grants totalling N1.2bn from the European Union and the Government of Japan to tackle insurgency in the North-East as well as to improve the level of disaster management in the country.

The agreement for the release of the grant was signed in Abuja between the Federal Government and representatives from the EU and the government of Japan.

FG names major streets & roads in Abuja after GEJ, Sambo, Atiku, El Rufai, others

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has revealed plans to rename some major streets and road in the FCT after some prominent Nigerians.

In a statement released today April 27th by his spokesperson, Nosike Ogbuenyi, the ministersaid those to be honored with street names include President Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Senate President, late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, former Speaker of House of Representatives and Katsina State Governor-elect, Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, former Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Dahiru Musdapha, Business moguls, Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote and several others.

Boko Haram is a fraud - Buhari
