Xenophobic attacks: Prophet T.B. Joshua writes open letter to South Africans

Founder of Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Temitope Balogun Joshua has joined the African voice speaking against the recent Xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The attacks was triggered by an inciting comment by Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini Zwelithini in which he called on foreigners to return to their home country.

At least 8 people have been killed in the violent eruption which started in the country's coastal province of KwaZulu-Natal, whose capital is Durban.

Nigerians among 700 who died in boat mishap in the Mediterrenean sea

There were a few Nigerians in the boat that capsized in the Mediterranean sea early yesterday April 19th claiming the lives of about 700 people. The illegal migrants drowned while on their way from Libya to Italy.

With yesterday's accident, it means that at least 1,500 migrants have died so far in 2015 while on route to Europe - and some of them are Nigerians.

Ijaw group asks GEJ to grant Presidential pardon to James Ibori before he leaves Aso Rock

An Ijaw group called the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, in Delta State, over the weekend asked President Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, before he leaves as president of Nigeria on May 29th.

"Ibori should be freed. Hundreds of persons, who looted heavily from government coffers are walking freely in the streets. The continuous incarceration of one corrupt man among a million other corrupt citizens cannot change the menace of high level corruption in the country. Ibori’s imprisonment could be seen as a witch-hunt and such is highly barbaric and provocative and the Nigerian government must quickly do something about his matter. Despite the ordeals Ibori is passing through, Deltans hold him in high esteem and his great achievements while in office cannot be discountenanced.

South Africa: Zulu King bows to pressure,agrees to call for an end to Xenophobic attacks

After being credited for fueling the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa, Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini has been persuaded into acting after a series of meetings with provincial and national government leaders.

This is coming after more than a week of efforts by national and provincial ministers to convince the monarch to publicly call for peace following his controversial comments in Phongola late last month, telling foreigners to pack their bags and leave,is regarded as having triggered the violence.

According to City Press, Zwelithini has now called an imbizo in Durban for tomorrow, where he is expected to call for an end to xenophobic attacks.The imbizo, at which the king will address the province’s traditional leaders and their subjects, will be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 10am.

Orubebe Denies Involvement in Plot to Kidnap Jega - ''I am Shocked''

The former minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Orubebe, has denied any involvement in the alleged plot to kidnap the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega at the presidential results collation centre in Abuja.

Reports had alleged that Orubebe’s protest against the abandonment of his petition against underage voting in the North among other complaints against Prof Attahiru Jega was a deliberate attempt to cause chaos at the presidential result collation centre to pave way for Jega’s abduction and trigger national violence.
