Governor Okorocha Calls For Cancellation In 6 LGAs In Imo

Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has called for total cancellation of the presidential election in six local council areas of the state, even as he accused the military of aiding the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the alleged electoral fraud.

Reacting Monday, to the figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Chief Okorocha named Oru East, Isiala Mbano, Ohaji/Egbema, Ngor Okpala, Aboh Mbaise  and parts  of Owerri West as some of the worst zones of alleged electoral fraud.

BREAKING: INEC Sets Up 3 Man Committee to Investigate Rivers Election

Breaking news from INEC. They have just set up a fact finding mission to ascertain the veracity of the claims and allegations of irregularities in Rivers State.

A statement by the Secretary to the commission, Augusta Ogakwu, at the National Collation Centre for the Presidential Election in Abuja on Monday, said it was necessitated by‎ the call for the cancellation of the elections in the state by the All Progressives Congress.

Amaechi Imposes Dusk-To-Dawn Curfew On Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Port Harcourt, the state capital, hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the result of the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state, Premium Times reports.

In a terse statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, George Feyi, the governor said the curfew will hold from 7p.m. to 6a.m.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, President Goodlcuk Jonathan defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential flagbearer, General Muhammadu Buhari in the Saturday, March 28, 2015 presidential election held in Akwa Ibom State.

According to the Returning Officer, Professor Ekpoke, who spoke at the INEC Conference Center in Uyo,  the figures for the election are as follows:

APC polls 10,853, PDP gets 7,762 In Abuja

APC won the Presidential election in Abuja with 10,853 votes while PDP scored 7,762. Announcing the result, the Returning Officer, Dr. Abdullahi Mohammed Evuti of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Abuja told journalists that the council has 10 wards and the total number of registered voters is 42, 401, while accredited voters is 20, 017.

A breakdown of votes received by political parties show ACPN 14, ADC 11, APC 10, 853, NCP 25, PDP 7,762, PPN 16, UDP 03, APA 26, AA 09, KOWA 03, CPP 16, HDP 02, AD 05 and UPP 02.

Police recover N9m from dead armed robbers who raided Owo banks

The police in Ondo State have recovered N9 million from the six of the fifty armed robbers who raided four banks at Owo last week.

Vanguard reports that,two police women and four others, including an ASP and seven civilians were killed by the robbers who stormed the banks at about 4pm last Friday.

ELECTED PRESIDENT TO BE ANNOUNCE TODAY

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said that despite the extension of Saturday’s elections till Sunday in some parts of the country, the results of the presidential poll will be declared on Monday(today).

INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, gave the assurance   as some of results from wards, local government areas and states continued to emerge on Sunday.

Nigeria PVC better than US voter card –Ambassador

The Ambassador of the United States to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle, has applauded the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission to use the Permanent Voter Card in the general elections which commenced on Saturday.

The ambassador, who spoke with journalists at the International Conference Centre, venue of the National Collation Centre of the election results, on Sunday said Nigeria’s PVC involved superior technology which his state of Virginia in the US needed to copy.
