Nigerian Military Arrests Aljazeera Journalists

Press statement from Defence Headquarters below...
Two journalists working for Aljazeera Television who were found to have been loitering around areas where military operations are ongoing in the North East have been restrained in Maiduguri.
The journalists, Ahmed Idris and Mustafa Andy who were noted to have been moving around various locations including restricted areas in Yobe and Borno State were also operating without any protection, accreditation or due clearance.

Boko Haram training with ISIS, Al Qaeda in Mauritania – Analysts

Recruits from all over the world have been accepted at the camp and are reportedly being taught to carry out deadly attacks which could spread across North and West Africa, Fox News reports the analysts as saying.

According to analysts Boko Haram, ISIS and Al Qaeda are working together in training camps managed by the latter group.

Nigeria shuts borders ahead of election

 Nigeria has announced the closure of all land and sea borders ahead of Saturday’s presidential elections, the Interior Ministry announced Wednesday.

All borders will effectively be closed from midnight March 25, to midnight Saturday, March 28, the ministry said in a statement.

Shekau is still Alive-Woman held captive by Boko Haram

One of the nine women who broke walls to escape from their captors in Gwoza town of Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State has revealed that Abubakar Shekau, leader of the Boko Haram, is still alive.

Chatting with newsmen in Maiduguri,she said “Shekau, who was thought to have been killed many times by the Nigerian security forces, is very much alive and healthy.”She added that the Boko Haram leader  preaches in Gwoza township.”

The Nigerian Army has arrested a suspected male terrorist in Kwaya Kusar, Borno state. The man who disguised himself as a lady dressed in Hijab was nabbed by troops on Saturday as he made for the market.

Alison-Madueke Sues APC, Premium Times, 10 Others Over $20 Billion Crude Oil Allegations

Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, has obtained an interim injunction from Justice AFA Ademola of Abuja Federal High Court, to restrain All Progressive Congress, Premium Times and 10 other media establishments from “publishing or causing to be published any further defamatory statements” stating or suggesting that the minister “stole, misappropriate or colluded in the stealing of $20 billion crude oil revenue.”

Badeh inaugurates 30 gunboats, warns oil thieves

Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, on Tuesday warned criminals, who engaged in illegal bunkering, pipeline vandalism and other oil-related thefts, to desist from the acts in their own interest.

He said this in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, during the inauguration of 30 gunboats procured by the Defence Headquarters for the Joint Military Task Force in the Niger Delta, Operation Pulo Shield.

Buhari's presidential disqualification suit set for tommorow as court orders NCC to pay APC N500m

The  suit which seeks to disqualify the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been adjourned to Wednesday.

The Consolidated suit which is centred around his certificate saga had earlier been fixed for today at the Federal High Court Abuja.

If granted, Buhari would be disqualified from the presidential race on grounds of lack of educational qualification..

Boko Haram reportedly kidnaps 400 women & children in Damasak

Boko Haram militants have reportedly kidnapped more than 400 women and children in Borno state..According to Reuters, they were kidnapped from Damasak ,one of the towns  freed this month by troops from Niger and Chad

There was no immediate official confirmation of the figure but residents confirmed the sad development ..
"They took 506 young women and children (in Damasak). They killed about 50 of them before leaving," a trader called Souleymane Ali told Reuters in the town. "We don’t know if they killed others after leaving, but they took the rest with them."
