Borno women attack Patience Jonathan over Buhari

Retired female civil servants in Borno State have launched a scathing attack at the first lady, Patience Jonathan, over her broadsides on former military ruler, Muhammadu Buhari, and her comments regarding the violence in northern Nigeria.

The women, under the Forum for Retired Female Civil Servants in Borno State, particularly expressed outrage over Mrs. Jonathan’s repeated attacks on Mr. Buhari, who is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Goodluck Jonathan’s major challenger.

I Am Willing To Serve, Not Desperate – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday said his quest to continue in office was not borne out of desperation, but out of a strong will to serve.

He said this during a book launch titled “The People’s Choice: The Story of President Goodluck Jonathan” written by Rev. Fr. Charles Imokhai.

Jonathan Congratulates Israeli Prime Minister On Election Victory

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday congratulated Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, on his victory in Tuesday’s general elections in his country.

President Jonathan in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, said he looked forward to continuing to work with the re-elected prime minister to further strengthen the existing cordial and mutually-beneficial relations between Nigeria and Israel.

Those With Cloned, Bought PVCs Will Be Disappointed – INEC

The national Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission in charge of Oyo, Ogun and Ekiti states, Prof. Lai Olurode, has said politicians who have either cloned or bought up the Permanent Voter Cards from registered voters will be disappointed during the forthcoming elections.

The  INEC commissioner who allayed the fears of the electorate over the usage of  card readers during the coming elections, said the commission introduced the machines with a view to checking counterfeiting and impersonation during the elections.

FG, States, LGs Share N522.052 Billion For February Federation Allocation

The Federal, States and Local Government Councils have shared a total of N522.052 billion as federal allocation for the month of February, 2015. A communiqué issued by the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) indicted that the Gross Revenue received for February 2015 was N401.467 billion.

This amount, when compared to the N416.096 billion received in January, 2015 showed a decline of N14.629 billion.

Corps members in Kebbi state being taught to use guns? (photos)

According to a LIB reader who is a Corper in Kebbi state, he said Corps members are being taught how to use the m60 guns for protection because of the insecurity related to the forthcoming election.
"The corp members were given security tips on how to prevent and handle mishaps in the course of the elections. They will not be given guns and ammunitions but in case the Boko boys decide to show their faces, Corpers will be able to help the security agents. After all, we are all serving our father's land."
