The Controller of the Prison, Fadipe Abolarin Kehinde, confirmed the attack, but denied loss of life during the attack.

"It was not a jail break, but an attack on the prison. "The main entrance of the prison was broken. What happened is that we were attacked from outside not from within.They came massively with different weapons."

Bahamian Evangelical Christian evangelist and ordained Pentecostal minister, Dr. Myles Munroe, who died early November will be buried on Thursday, December 4. Munroe and his wife, Ruth, alongside other passengers on their way to Freeport, Grand Bahama for a conference were killed in a private plane crash on Sunday, November 9. Bahamian officials stated their aircraft struck a crane at a ship yard near Grand Bahama International Airport.

A memorial service would be held on behalf of the Myles on Wednesday, December 3, while the couple would be buried the following day on Thursday, December 4. The Bahamas Faith Ministries have also revealed that their late founder, Dr Myles, and wife will be in a closed casket at their memorial service.

• Nigeria’s best known potter who was awarded a Doctorate and was made MBE in 1963 for the level of detail and skill she utilized while making her pots.

• Ladi Dosei Kwali (1925-1983) popularly known as Dr Ladi Kwali was born in 1925 in Kwali town in the present Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,Nigeria.

• Probably she is the best known of the Abuja potters. Making pots was women’s work in Kwali and the entire Gwari villages, therefore Ladi came to Abuja (the then Suleja) with knowledge of traditional Gwari pottery.

• She did not at first take to the idea of using wheels and kilns and the other paraphernalia of the European potter, but proved to have a natural ability to throw. She was picked from her traditional home Kwali to the then Abuja the present Suleja because of her natural ability in making pots.

Just In: Boko Haram invades Damaturu, attacks State University!

Gunshots in Damaturu, Yobe State. It is not clear what the details of the situation are but many believe members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect are making a move to take over the state capital after overrunning Mubi, another town in the North east state.

According to Jonathan Gopep, a Channels TV correspondent in Damaturu, the attack started some minutes before 6am on Monday morning. He said,

“Many people are running helter-skelter. I would be honest with you; the military are here but they are being professional… careful not to harm civilians.”

We are yet to get an official confirmation of the said siege. The call by the Federal Government for an extension of Emergency Rule in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa has met with stiff opposition in the National Assembly but deliberations are still ongoing to find a lasting solution to the lingering impasse.
