Nigeria Set To Host ''Brazil'' At Akwa Ibom Stadium

Come March 29, 2015, Nigeria will host world champions, Brazil in a friendly match at the newly commissioned Akwa Ibom international stadium. The announcement was made by Akwa Ibom state Governor, Godswill Akpabio at the opening of the sporting edifice already christened Nest Of Champions. ‎"Brazil will field the full complement of its stars for the match, including Barcelona star Neymar." ‎He said‎

The new 30,000 capacity stadium boasts of 4-tier ‎boasts 4 -tier, covered, seating terrace,  all-natural grass, high-tech floodlights and security cameras, 36 emergency exits, bullet proof VVIP and VIP along with other ultra-modern facilities.‎ Nigeria`s final 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against South Africa will be played there on Wednesday.

Emir of Kano, Sanusi Receives Seized Travel Passports From SSS

The SSS yesterday November 8th returned the international travel passports (diplomatic & standard)  of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II. His diplomatic passport was seized at Lagos airport on his return from Niger Republic while his standard passport was seized at the Kano Airport when he tried to travel to France. The passports was returned to him at his Palace yesterday following his recent reconciliation with president Jonathan.

Actor Clems Onyeka Death: Police Arrests 15 Suspected Gunmen involved in Killing Him

Police in Delta State on Saturday paraded over 15 armed robbery and kidnap suspects including a robbery gang which had caused the death of popular Nollywood actor, Clems Onyeka. Addressing journalists at its end of month press conference at the Police Headquarters in Asaba, the new Commissioner of Police, CP Alkali Baba Usman, pointed out that the command is out to ensure a drastic reduction of crime in all parts of the state. He reflected on some the successes recorded in the month under review.

Notable among them was the arrest of an armed robbery gang that attacked a bullion van on DBS Road, Asaba which led to the death of Clems Onyeka on October 4. The Dragon team recovered two AK 47 rifle magazines containing 56 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition from them.

FCT Now Arrest Unpainted Taxi Cab Drivers

Following the expiration of Oct. 1 deadline for the registration of unpainted commercial vehicles also known as “kabu kabu”, the FCT Transport Secretariat has begun the arrest of defaulters. Mr Jonathan Ivoke, the Secretary, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Transportation Secretariat, told journalists in Abuja on Thursday that commercial drivers would be arrested for using unpainted and unlicensed vehicles.
“There are so many traffic offences that go on daily; one of them is the use of illegal, unlicensed, unpainted, unauthorised and unidentified vehicles as taxi cabs and buses in FCT.
“They are aware that it is an offence to do so and it is our duty not only to remind them that it is an offence to do so but to enforce compliance,’’ Ivoke said.
He said that the FCT administration had told the estate mangers to allow only painted taxis to operate in their environs.

US President Barrack Obama Unveils Attorney General Nominee

United States President, Barack Obama, has chosen New York federal prosecutor, Loretta Lynch, to replace Eric Holder as U.S attorney general, the White House has said. If the Senate confirms her appointment, Ms Lynch will be the first African-American woman to head the U.S Justice Department. Mr. Holder, who resigned from the post six weeks ago, was the first African-American to serve as attorney general, the BBC reports.

The White House said Ms Lynch would be formally nominated on Saturday. The BBC says Ms Lynch, 55, is known for her low-key personality and has stirred little controversy during her two tenures as U.S attorney for the Eastern District of New York.
“Ms Lynch is a strong, independent prosecutor who has twice led one of the most important U.S Attorney’s Offices in the country,” White House spokesman, Josh Earnest, said in a statement.

Boko Haram: Nigeria Army Free 125 More Suspects

Two days after releasing 42 suspected members of Boko Haram, the 7th Division of the Nigeria military today November 8th released 125 more suspected members of the sect.

At the handing over ceremony which held at the Borno state government house, the spokesman of the 7th Division, Nigeria Army,  Col. Usman Sani, said thorough investigation showed the men who were arrested sometime in September, had no connection with Boko Haram.
