Pope Francis Calls for Abolition of Life Imprisonment

Pope Francis has called for abolition of life imprisonment ,saying it  offers revenge for victims instead of pursuing true justice.He told representatives from the International Association of Penal Law:

"It is impossible to imagine that states today cannot make use of another means than capital punishment to defend peoples' lives from an unjust aggressor.Media and politicians advocated 'violence and revenge, public and private, not only against those responsible for crimes, but also against those under suspicion, justified or not' Catholic teaching does not proscribe capital punishment.'All Christians and men of good faith are therefore called upon today to fight, not only for the abolition of the death penalty – whether it is legal or illegal and in all its forms... and this, for me, is linked to life sentences. A sentence of life (without parole) is a hidden death penalty."

Finally! Ebola crisis 'slowing in Liberia'

The World Health Organization (WHO) says there has been a decline in the spread of Ebola in Liberia, the country hardest hit in the outbreak. BBC Reports.

The WHO's Bruce Aylward said it was confident the response to the virus was now gaining the upper hand. But he warned against any suggestion that the crisis was over.

He said the new number of cases globally was 13,703 and that the death toll, to be published later on Wednesday, would probably pass 5,000.

First white leader in Africa in 20 years

Zambia’s Guy Scott became Africa’s first white head of state in 20 years on Wednesday after the president, “King Cobra” Michael Sata, died in a London hospital aged 77. Scott, a Cambridge-educated economist born to Scottish parents, was Sata’s vice president.

He takes over as interim leader until an election in three months, making him the first white African leader since South Africa’s F.W. de Klerk lost to Nelson Mandela in the 1994 election that ended apartheid, Reuters says.

“Elections for the office of president will take place within 90 days. In the interim I am acting president,” Scott said in a brief televised address.

“The period of national mourning will start today. We will miss our beloved president and comrade.”

According to Global Excellence magazine, Mercy Johnson-Okojie got another car gift from her handsome husband, Prince Odi Okojie, after the man became aware of the sex of their new child during pregnancy.

Recall that in 2013, Mercy Johnson got a Lexus SUV gift from her hubby after the birth of their first child together in December 2012, a daughter named Purity.

The magazine reported that the Kogi State-born actress’ Edo State-born husband got her a 2013 model of Range Rover Sport SUV as soon he was told that his wife would be giving him a boy. This was after a scan was conducted.

In mid-October, the actress welcomed their second child, a baby boy, in the United States of America (USA) and has since been christened Henry.

Woman stripped N*ked after being caught stealing by store owner

A female shoplifter was stripped to her waist by a store owner after she was caught stealing in her store. The shoplifter, 28 year old Yu Chung, went into the store in China's Zhejiang province to buy clothes and stuffed some into her bag without paying for them.

The angry store owner, 39 year old Mei Hsueh, who caught her red handed, descended on her, removed her top to prevent her from running away, then removed her bra and pushed her outside of her store.

"This thief was trying to steal my clothes to I took off some of hers.She'll think twice before she does that again. It was meant to be a warning to all those thieves out there to show them that not all shops are a pushover." the store owner said

The president died at the King Edward VII hospital in the UK yesterday October 28th after suffering from an undisclosed Illness. Mr Sata was elected Zambia's President in September 2011. May his soul rest in peace, Amen!

Desperate Youth Corper Caught Adding Lover Portion in Boy Friend's Food!

A desperate serving National Youth Corps Member, identified as Chinyere, at the weekend landed in trouble in Asaba, Delta State, when a love portion meant to charm a 32-year- old graduate of chemistry backfired, Leadership reports.

The incident which occurred around Redeemed Junction along Okpanam community road, Asaba, followed a long relationship between the suspect and the young man, who hails from Ibusa community near Asaba. It was said that they started dating while they were both in Lagos, until she graduated and was posted to Asaba for her youth service.

Sources revealed that their relationship encountered some undisclosed issues and the young man broke up, but the suspect refused to let go despite all effort to convince her he was done with the relationship.
