Court Frees Popular Lagos Socialite/Businessman, Ajudua of $1.9m Fraud Charge

Justice Kudirat Jose discharged Ajudua and his co-defendant, Charles Orie, following the withdrawal of the charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). “The charge against the defendants is hereby struck out. The defendants are accordingly discharged,” the judge said.

Earlier, EFCC counsel, A.E. Sanusi, told the court that some principal prosecution witnesses refused to come to Nigeria to give evidence in the matter.

“Our witnesses are foreigners who are reluctant to come to Nigeria.
“They are citing Ebola virus disease as one of the reasons they do not want to come.
“The first defendant (Ajudua) is at present being remanded in the Kirikiri Prisons; in the circumstances, we are constrained to withdraw the charge.
“We are asking the court to discharge the defendants until we are able to get our witnesses,” Sanusi said.

We’ll Return Nigeria’s $15million Soon – South Africa

South Africa has promised to return the $15 million arms deal money it earlier seized from Nigeria. The South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Myakayaka Manzini, who featured in a programme on African International Television, AIT, “Matters Arising”, yesterday, said the process of refunding the money was already on.

He said: “Both countries have decided on a political solution to the issue. Nigeria is a big ally and a brother.”

According to Manzini, South Africa will do everything to maintain cordial relations with Nigeria and would not do anything to hurt her national interests. He added that South Africa had been selling arms to Nigeria and that his country was prepared to sell arms to Nigeria to fight Boko Haram.

Ebola: Czech authorities humiliate Ghanaian at airport (Shocking Video)

A Ghanaian student in Czech Republic arrested, forced into a suffocating black polythene bag, wheeled away in a trolley and dumped into a bus has tested negative for ebola, the Ghana Mission in the Czech Republic has confirmed.

The student, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, was isolated for several hours in what appears to be an excruciating, thoroughly humiliating episode as Czech authorities desperately take precautionary measures against ebola. The student was only suffering from common cold, the Health Ministry at the Czech Republic stated..

He had successfully been screened at the Czech Airport on Saturday night and allowed to go through, only to be picked up again at the train station by a man in hazard garments and taken through the dehumanizing episode. Say What! Catholic Church set to welcome Homos*xuals

Catholic bishops released a document Monday saying that homos*xuals had “gifts and qualities to offer” and asked if Catholicism could accept gays and recognise positive aspects of same-s*x couples. Roman Catholic gay rights groups have hailed the paper as a breakthrough, but church conservatives called it a betrayal of traditional family values.

The document, prepared after a week of discussions at an assembly of 200 bishops, said the Church should challenge itself to find “a fraternal space” for homosexuals without compromising Catholic doctrine on family and matrimony...

While the text did not signal any change in the Church’s condemnation of homosexual acts or gay marriage, it used less judgmental and more compassionate language than that seen in Vatican statements prior to the 2013 election of Pope Francis.
