"How We killed Boko Haram Leader, Shekau in Nigeria" – Cameroonian army Reveals!

Nigeria and Cameroon were, yesterday, locked in an argument over who killed Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau and where he was killed. In a rare public show by the Cameroonian army (Armee Camerounaise), photos of Shekau were made public alongside a statement claiming he was killed during a cross-border raid deep inside Nigeria by its military.

A Cameroon military source, according to Cameroon Concord, said on Sunday night that Shekau was killed following an aerial bombardment of his hideout inside Nigeria. Purported photo released by Armee Camerounaise (Cameroon Army) of the Shekau it claimed died from Cameroonian fire, from the portal of Cameroon Concord.

On the other hand, the Nigerian Army is also laying claim to the same feat but without photographic evidence yet. The Nigerian Army said its soldiers might have killed Shekau in Konduga, a town some kilometres away from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. Continue...

Serious Commotion as Police break into Rivers high court!

There was confusion around the Rivers State High Court premises as scores of policemen escorted the most senior judge of the court, Justice Daisy Okocha, into the premises. The State High Court, which has been under lock and key since June 10, 2014, due to the strike embarked upon by judiciary workers in the state, was forcefully opened by security operatives.

As at 10am on Tuesday when our correspondent visited the Bank Road location of the State High Court, over 50 armed policemen blocked the entrance of the two gates leading to the court premises with over 16 Hilux vans. Journalists, who tried to move close to the gates were told by security agent manning the place to step backwards.

Governor Rochas Okorocha read the riot act in Owerri, when he played host to APC local government chairmen from the 36 states of the federation, gathered in the city to celebrate his 52nd birthday.

Nigeria Earns N6 Trillion from Oil Exports in 6 Months

According to the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Nigeria has been estimated to have realised about N6.55 trillion ($40 billion) from crude oil exports in the first half of this year. The 12-nation member organisation, in its revenue fact sheet, however stated that the Africa’s oil giant had net earnings of about $84 billion in 2013.

This revenue has positioned Nigeria as the fourth highest earner among OPEC members, after Saudi Arabia ($274 billion), Kuwait ($45 billion), and Iraq ($45 billion), during the same period. Libya earned the least revenue with ($4 billion) after Equador ($5 billion).

The United States Energy Information Administration (EIA) also estimated that excluding Iran, members of the OPEC earned about $826 billion in net oil export revenues in 2013, a seven per cent decrease from 2012 earnings, but the second largest earnings totals during the 1975 to 2013 period. US Blocks Nigeria’s Purchase Of Chinook Helicopters From Israel

Concerns mount over double standards, US’ intent over Boko Haram. Efforts by the Nigerian military to procure US-made Chinook helicopters from Israel, to facilitate the movement of troops and the injured, have been blocked by the United States Government, THISDAY has learnt.

This, among other issues, including the US’ refusal to provide Nigeria’s security agencies with timely intelligence needed to defeat Boko Haram insurgents who have been riding rough shod in the North-east, would form part of the discussions when President Goodluck Jonathan meets with US President Barack Obama in New York this week. Jonathan departed for New York on Sunday for the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations.

Photo: Judge flees as thugs disrupt proceedings against Fayose

There was confusion on the premises of the Ekiti State High Court on Monday as hoodlums invaded the place to disrupt proceedings in a case challenging the eligibility of the Governor-elect, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, to contest the June 21 governorship election. However, Fayose has since won the election.

The invasion took place shortly after the judge, Justice Olusegun Ogunyemi, refused an application to set aside an order abridging the time for the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate to file his defence in the case filed on behalf of socio-political group, Ekiti-11 by a member, Mr. Femi Ajakaiye.

The judge had adjourned sitting till 12 noon to prepare a ruling in a similar matter filed by the Citizen Popular Party before trouble started. As he was preparing to return for the continuation of the matter, angry youths besieged the court. The judge was smuggled out of the chambers through the back door to avoid being lynched by the aggressors.

Tiger kills Drunk man who jumped into its enclosure at Zoo (See Photos)

A young man identified as Maqsod has been killed by a tiger after climbing over a fence into an animal enclosure at the New Delhi Zoo.The man who was said to be drunk was warned severally by zoo officials not to go close ,but he ignored the warnings and jumped over ,coming face to face with the tiger who appeared initially surprised on seeing the human intrusion.
An eyewitness told AFP

“As soon as the youth slipped and fell into the moat, the tiger approached him and silently watched him for nearly 15 minutes. 

He said what possibly provoked the tiger to attack the man was when onlookers and a guard tried to divert its attention by pelting stones at it.

DSS Arrests NTA Reporter over N50M Bribe!

The Niger State command of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday paraded Sampson Oghenedoro, a 28-year old staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for demanding N50 million from the state government to stop him from broadcasting a story on alleged fraudulent activities within the government.

According to DailyTrust, the suspect was paraded at the state command in Minna and the state of director, Dr. Larry Obiagwu, said Sampson was picked up by his men at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja while on his way to Minna to collect the said amount.

TB Joshua's boy Onazi Signs New Deal at Lazio for €700,000

Ogenyi Onazi, who was inspired by Prophet TB Joshua and started his professional career in My People, a club founded by the popular prophet, has signed a new improved 4-year deal at Italian Club SS Lazio.

Nigeria To Resume Gas Supply To Ghana

Nigeria is expected to resume supply of gas to Ghana after the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas workers (NUPENG) and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) suspended their five-day-old strike.

The strike triggered a cut in supply of gas through the West African Gas Pipeline to Ghana and left the country in an energy crisis with power producers forced to shed a record 500 megawatts of electricity. All gas powered thermal plants across the country were shut down, worsening the ongoing load shedding programme.

But with the suspension of the strike in Nigeria, which was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a marathon meeting with the minister of petroleum, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, and the management of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, it is expected that gas supply to Ghana will be resumed.

Boko Haram: More Insurgents Surrender in Borno

Ten additional Boko Haram terrorists surrendered to troops at Kawuri in Borno on Sunday, security update posted on Defence Headquarters’ (DHQ) website said on Monday. It said that the terrorists, who voluntarily gave up, had been taken into custody for necessary security debriefing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that five terrorists surrendered to troops on Saturday at Konduga, Borno, along with their weapons and pleaded for mercy. The statement said contrary to reports, no raid was carried out by Cameroonian military in Nigeria.

“All ongoing operations in the environs of Konduga and associated border locations within the country are completely being undertaken by Nigerian troops.

“While the Nigerian military is yet to officially name some of the top terrorists killed in recent operations, more suspected insurgents have continued to surrender themselves to the troops,” it said.

Kaduna killings: Protesting nude women block governor's convoy

Women in Fadan Karshi in Sanga local government in Kaduna yesterday protested half naked when the governor of the state, Mukhtar Yero, came to pay them a condolence visit. Their grievance? Well, according to the indigene of the state who sent the pics to Sahara Reporters, over a thousand people have been killed in the area and neighboring towns and villages by terrorists since March this year, and the governor never came to see them until yesterday when he showed up with hundreds of security personnel following last week's attack that left over 40 people dead.

How Boko Haram Leader Abubakar Shekau Was Ambushed & Killed

According To Vanguard Newspaper, Details of how Abubakar Shekau,the impostor and leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group lost his left in a shootout with Nigerian troops in Konduga on Wednesday Sept. 17 emerged yesterday with military sources disclosing that he met his waterloo in an ambush reminiscent of the type the sect had been using to hack down Nigerian troops.

Vanguard gathered that when the first attack on Konduga whereby hundreds of insurgents were taken unawares and killed after over seven hours of fighting and several of their colleagues, arms and ammunition captured, the military commanders strategically urged his captured members to send a message to Shekauthat they (insurgents) have routed the troops.

Before the captured insurgents were urged to make the contact and deliver the message, the military commanders had promised them that their cooperation would play a role in the level of punishment to be meted to them after the battle hence they felt reassured. Also, the captured insurgents had disclosed that Shekau usually moved in a convoy of cars painted in military colours while he sits in a MOWAG Armoured tank with Boko Haram inscription on its front.

Wickedness: Grandma, Two Other Relations Slaughter 9-Year Old Boy For Pepper Soup In Niger State

Three people including the paternal grandmother have been arrested by the Niger State police command for slaughtering a 9-year-old boy and using the body to prepare pepper soup delicacy. The incidence happened in Koso village in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.

Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, Mr. Olusola Amore, told newsmen that the family of the late boy had reported Liman Doo Mohammed’s mysterious disappearance to the police on the 9th of last month.

However, another report hinted the police that they should beam their search light on the paternal grandmother of the deceased, because he was last seen in her company. He said based on this vital information, detectives were put on red alert to closely monitor the grandmother called Fatima Sarki’s movement. Also arrested with her were other relations suspected to be her collaborators.

"Boko Haram Leader 'Abubakar Shekau' is Well and Alive' -Journalist Ahmad Salkida

Dubai-based Nigerian journalist Ahmed Salkida, who recently was flown to Nigeria to negotiate with Boko Haram, has denied claims that Abubakar Shekau is dead.

Two days ago, Cameroonian authorities had released a photo of a dead man they identified as Abubakar Shekau. Eventually the dead man was identified as one Bashir Mohammed, leader of the Islamist sect’s Uye camp. Nigerian security officials had also maintained for months that Mr. Shekau was dead, apparently killed by his own disaffected lieutenants in an internal rivalry for control of the terrorist organization. But according to Mr. Salkida who took to Twitter some hours ago to make the announcement, Abubakar Shekau is alive and well.

Mr. Salkida also dismissed media reports that the Nigerian government was negotiating with Boko Haram for the release of more than 200 kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls. He also described as untrue reports that the International Red Cross (IRC) was working on a deal that would persuade Boko Haram to free the abducted Chibok schoolgirls in exchange for the release of detained Islamist insurgents in the custody of Nigerian security agencies. Boko Haram: Soldiers On Death Row Moved To Kainji, Lagos

The 12 soldiers condemned to death by a military court-martial have been moved to military facilities in Kainji in Niger State and Lagos, LEADERSHIP learnt yesterday. A reliable source said that the soldiers had been moved to an underground cell at the military intelligence Headquarters in Apapa, Lagos State.

Police Detonate two explosive devices at University of Uyo

The police command in Akwa Ibom said it had detonated two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) found in the male hostel of University of Uyo. Confirming the incident in Uyo on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Etim Dickson, told newsmen that the explosives were home-made.

Dickson, who said that the IEDs were likely produced by science students of the university, said investigations had commenced on the matter.

He assured the students on campus and parents not to entertain any fear about possible breakdown of law and order in the university community. He said “the incident has been properly taken care of, we urge students and employees of the institution to go about their normal businesses.”

The stage performance of his hit single yawa dey, began with Burna Boy on the bare ground being revived from a supposed coma. This made the guests go wild in anticipation, as they had absolutely no idea what was coming next or even the fact that it was the singer on the floor.

Few seconds later, Burna springs up, delivering his most energetic and exhilarating performance ever. Absolutely well choreographed, his back up dancers displayed amusing ‘Shoki’ moves to the amazement of everyone present.
