Joan Rivers' daughter, Melissa Rivers, continues to provide updates about her mother's condition. And in her latest statement, released Wednesday, Sept. 3, she says the 81-year-old comedienne has been transferred to a private room at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.

"My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable," the statement reads. "Thank you for your continued support."

Fire has raised about 40 apartments at the Ijeh Police Barracks in Obalende Lagos state PM News reports. The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be determined.

This is the same barracks that a police officer died on Friday August 29th after he was pushed down a building by his wife during a fight. The officer died before getting to the hospital while his widow is still in the intensive care unit of an undisclosed hospital.

No Ebola case in Abuja, Calabar, Kaduna case under investigation - Health Minister

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu has debunked rumours of Ebola cases in Abuja and Calabar and said the case in Kaduna is still under investigation. He also said that another patient has been discharged from the Isolation center in Lagos after being certified free of the deadly virus.

Boko Haram Takes Over Bara in Yobe State

Boko Haram insurgents have taken control of another territory in Yobe State on Wednesday after engaging in a fierce battle over Bara, a town not far from Maiduguri in Borno State.

Reuters reports that the newly captured town was taken over by the Islamist fighters without any resistance, with witnesses saying that the town has no Nigerian troops guarding it. Musa Abdullahi, a trader who escaped the town, said Boko Haram members stormed Bara unarmed and then went about convincing residents to join their cause.

Impeached Enugu Deputy Gov Rejects Redeployment

Indications have emerged that the impeached deputy governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, would not accept his redeployment to the state civil service by Governor Sullivan Chime. The former deputy governor was an employee of the Enugu State Civil Service before he ventured into politics after rising to the rank of a permanent secretary. But he was demoted to the rank of a deputy director in his redeployment, which was confirmed by the Enugu State Government on Monday.

Efforts by Punch to get Onyebuchi to comment on the development were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report but a source, who is close to him, informed Punch that the former deputy governor would ignore the redeployment.

11 planes Missing at Libyan airport, officials warn they could be used on 9/11 anniversary!

Eleven commercial jets went missing last month, after militant group Libyan Dawn overtook the Libyan international airport. The attention of the U.S. government has been drawn to the fact that the planes could be used in attacks to mark the anniversary of 9/11 later this month. An Official told Free-Beacon:

"There are a number of commercial airliners in Libya that are missing, We found out on September 11 what can happen with hijacked planes."

On Sunday, the Libyan government announced that they had lost control of the state capital to radical Islamic groups Ansar al Sharia and Libyan Dawn.

Fire-for-Fire: Soldiers & Boko Haram in Fight to Finish in Bama

Reuters quoted a soldier involved in the Bama battle as having said several of his colleagues were killed close to the Bama armoury in a bungled strike by a fighter jet targeting the insurgents.

He said the troops called in air reinforcements as they took on the insurgents but by the time a fighter jet arrived, they had mostly lost the battle in the area. In his words: “The jet then bombed the area but accidentally killed everyone there, both Nigerian troops and insurgents. The situation is bad. We lost so many of our men.”

The Senator representing Borno Central, Senator Ahmed Zannah, had also confirmed Reuters report.

According to the Telegraph, May Myat Noe - the country's first winner of an international beauty contest - said representatives of the Miss Asia Pacific World pageant lied about her age - saying she was 18 instead of 16 - and tried to pressure her into getting plastic surgery "from head to toe."

She  denied having breast implants as claimed by David Kim, director of media for the South Korean-based pageant. He said the surgery was provided free of charge, part of efforts to boost the teen into super-stardom.

Ebola Scare Rocks Kaduna As ABU Student Shows Symptoms

A middle aged man from Zaria, Kaduna State, has been put into isolation at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, for exhibiting symptoms of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease.

Confirming the incident to Channels Television on Tuesday, the State’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Thot Dogo, said that the hospital authorities alerted the ministry when they suspected that the man, who is an undergraduate of ABU, Zaria, started showing symptoms of Ebola like high fever and rashes on his body over a week after he was admitted at the hospital.

He said that the blood sample of the patient has been taken to a laboratory in Lagos for tests, with the result expected to come out by Tuesday.

British national slumps and dies at Lagos airport

The deputy British high commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Parker, yesterday evening September 2nd slumped and died at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. Parker who flew into the county aboard an American Airline, Delta Air Lines, sources said, took ill while onboard.
The plane had arrived the country from Atlanta, Georgia, around 4pm yesterday.

A source close to the airport confirmed that the medical personnel attached to the terminal tried to revive him, but without success. When it was confirmed that he had passed on, an ambulance was ordered to take him to the morgue.

Another American Doctor Contracts Ebola In Liberia

Another American missionary doctor has tested positive for Ebola in Monrovia, Liberia; making him the third American health care worker to contract the virus.

The name of the doctor, who worked for the Christian aid group SIM, has not been released. But the group said in a statement that he did not treat Ebola patients. Instead, he saw obstetrics patients at the organization's main ELWA hospital, which is separate from its Ebola isolation unit. How he became infected is unknown.

Rivers State releases N300million to fight Ebola

Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi announced today that his administration has released over N300million to fight the Ebola virus in the state.

Amaechi disclosed this while speaking with the Country Director of the World Health Organization, WHO, Mr. Rui Vaz, at the government house in Port Harcourt.

“Whatever it takes for us to overcome Ebola, please, I will do it because it costs more if Ebola is on the loose than if it is contained. So, we are happy that the World Health Organization is here to assist Rivers State. We are happy that the World Health Organization appreciates the dangers of Ebola to our communities. We need to contain Ebola. If there is no cure, then there is containment so that more persons don’t contract it. The Rivers State Government is prepared to take all the responsibility. The citizens are ours,” Amaechi said.

According to multiple eye witnesses, the Super Eagles midfielder arrived at the Eagles Calabar camp this afternoon wearing protective hand gloves. When asked by coach Stephen Keshi why he was wearing gloves, Mikel reportedly replied

"Coach I have up to four hand gloves and if you don’t mind, I can give you one. I'm not joking with this virus oh” Mikel jokingly told Keshi and everyone present laughed.
