Nurse Who Just Got Married Tests Positive To Ebola Virus In Lagos

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, has revealed that another Lagos nurse has tested positive to Ebola. This sad development is coming 22 days after the first first case of the virus was recorded. The minister said the newly married nurse was among those that had direct contact with the late Liberian man, Patrick Sawyer, who is said to be the one who imported the disease into Nigeria.

Unfortunately, before the Nurse was diagnosed, she had gone home and slept with her new husband. So, her husband is now among the 177 people that government has placed under strict surveillance in Lagos.

US Gives Ebola Drug To Spain Just After Rejecting Nigeria’s Request

According to source, Nigeria officially requested the ZMapp Ebola cure from the American government last week, the request was subsequently turned down with the excuse that it was still an experimental drug and further tests have to be done before it could be safe for Nigerians.

A lot of Nigerians have expressed opinions that an unsafe cure is better than no cure at all and considering the fact that two Americans have been cured with the drug and our Ebola problem was actually deliberately created by an American (Patrick Sawyer who deliberately brought Ebola to Nigeria), America should give us some consideration.

This was not to be and they have consistently refused us the drugs, Now as Vanguard reports they have delivered the drug to Spain to save the life of a missionary infected in Africa. Read Vanguards report after the cut...

Spanish priest with Ebola treated with experimental serum, Zmapp

The 75 year old Spanish priest who was infected with the Ebola virus in Liberia is being treated with the new experimental drug, Zmapp, which was used to treat two US missionary doctors infected with the virus. The Spanish government claimed yesterday that the drug was imported from Geneva and doctors have begun to administer it on Fr. Miguel Pajares at Madrid’s La Paz-Carlos III hospital where he is in isolation. The first person to be treated with the serum, Dr. Kent Brantly, saw his condition improve after being given Zmapp.

Since his treatment began, Fr. Pajares is said to be in stable condition, no longer has fever, and hasn't any hemorrhaging. Doctors believe that his condition will greatly improve in the coming days. The big question is when is Africa going to get this drug?

The procedures which include the administration of the Holy Communion on the palm of the faithful as against placing it on the tongue of the recipient, was announced by Rev. Fr. Moses Jimbili, at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nyanya.

Jimbili told parishioners at the church that the measure was a directive by the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan, as check on the spread of Ebola disease.

Another change in the church’s practice was the stoppage of hand shake by worshippers done during consecration of the Holy Communion as sign of peace.
