20 Hospitalised, 2 Dead after Excessive Consumption of Salt in Jos!

ThisDayNewspapers reports that at least two people are feared dead, while 20 others are hospitalised in various hospitals in Plateau State after consuming excessive quantity of salt and bitter kola to prevent Ebola Virus Disease .

According to the publication, the two who were rushed to the hospital by family members, collapsed in the morning after consuming too much salt over night. They reportedly later died of high blood pressure in the hospital.

The medical personnel in the hospitals where other patients are currently taking treatment in Jos, developed ulcer, while others stool profusely, having consumed the table salt in excess.

Lagos State sets up Isolation Wards for Ebola victims

Lagos State Government has built Isolation Centers for patients with symptoms of the Ebola virus at the Mainland Hospital in Yaba. The isolation ward is situated at the back of the hospital and are tents
under which patients are camped and fenced in with planks.

The isolation centre was built to help contain the situation and reduce possible spread of the disease.

Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola, Commissioners for Health, Dr Jide Idris, and Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr Yewande Adeshina visited the place today and said the facility is ready for use.

Breaking: Didier Drogba Retires From International Football

Chelsea FC striker Dider Drogba has announced his retirement from international football after 12 years of service with the Ivory Coast national team. The 36-year-old will no longer play for his country Ivory Coast but will continue to play for Chelsea. His statement:

Ebola Update: GEJ Summons Emergency Meeting As FG Confirmed Two More Cases In Lagos

Ebola here and there. The Federal government has confirmed two more cases of Ebola virus disease in Lagos. This brings to a total of 9 confirmed cases in Nigeria, seven infected with the disease and two dead. The federal government also said about 139 persons who have had direct or indirect contact with the confirmed cases are currently under surveillance. Meanwhile President Jonathan has summoned an emergency meeting at the State House Abuja over the virus outbreak in the country.

Boko Haram Recruits Young People In Cameroon; Plans More Attacks

Boko Haram has recruited and trained hundreds of young Cameroonians to carry out attacks in their own country, according to the police and civilians. As the militant group seeks to gain a foothold in the poor, rural north of Cameroon, experts warn that violence may spread beyond border areas to other parts of the central African country. A police officer from the area told AFP on condition of anonymity:

Abacha loot: US to return $480million to Nigeria

The U.S has taken control of $480million which is part of money stolen by former military dictator General Sani Abacha, after a court ruling in D.C on Wednesday August 6th. The U.S Department of Justice will now hand over the stolen money to Nigerian government, U.S government spokesman said yesterday.

According to court documents, late General Abacha, his son Mohammed Sani Abacha, their associate Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and others embezzled, misappropriated, extorted money from the Nigerian government and stashed them in various banks across the world.

During investigations, $303 million was found in two bank accounts operated by Abacha and his cronies in the British offshore center of Jersey while $144 million was also found in 2 bank accounts they operated in France. Continue...
