MASSOB Leader Warns Igbo Residents In The North To Return Home

Leader of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has again warned Ndigbo residents in any part of northern Nigeria to relocate to Igboland with immediate effect to avoid falling victim to the raging Boko Haram insurgency in the region.

Uwazuruike said he was so worried about the constant killing of innocent Igbo sons and daughters doing legitimate businesses in the north, to the extent that he decided to warn them for the last time to return home.
He added that although it was painful for them to abandon their life-time investments in the north to relocate home, their lives were more precious than their wealth.

Uwazuruike, who sounded this note of warning at the MASSOB headquarters, Okwe, near Okigwe, Imo State, regretted that his previous calls for his kinsmen to return at the beginning of the insurgency, were not heeded. Continue reading...

Members Of National Assembly Avoid Shaking Hands (Photos)

Panic over the spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Nigeria has travelled as far as the National Assembly as the lawmakers refused handshakes today and hand sanitizers was seen used by many of them. This happened as a public hearing on the disease held in a session chaired by Chairman, House Committee on Health Hon. Ndidi Elumelu. Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, the Health Minister was in attendance.

Onyebuchi had today disclosed that a nurse who was among the medical personnel that attended to the late Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer, who died of Ebola virus in Lagos on July 25, has died of the same disease.

“Nigeria has now recorded 7 confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVB)” the minister said.
Those who have died include the “index patient,” a Liberian who brought the virus to Lagos on July 20, and a nurse who treated him, the minister added. Continue...

Nigerian Women & Children Take Refuge In Chad Desert Island (Photo)

Photo above shows Nigerian women and children currently taking refuge in the Chadian Island of Choua, a desert land that is in no way habitable. The women and children ran to the Chad island after numerous attacks on their village, Kolikolia in Borno State by the Boko Haram sect.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Ariane Rummery, the Chad Government has signified interest in moving the women and children to a habitable village where they can settle and get minimal comfort.

Nigerian nurse Infected With Ebola virus Dies as FG Confirms 7 New Cases

Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, speaking today August 6th at a news conference in Abuja said a Nigerian nurse has died from the Ebola Virus. He said the nurse worked at the Lagos hospital where Liberian Patrick Sawyer was treated. He said she died yesterday August 5th. He also revealed that five medical practitioners who interacted with Sawyer have been confirmed to have contracted the deadly virus. He said:

"Nigeria has now recorded seven confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease. The first one was the index case, which is the imported case from Liberia of which the victim is now late. Yesterday, 5th August, 2014, the first known Nigerian to die of the EVD was recorded and this was one of the nurses that attended to the Liberian. Some suspected ritual killers who struck a village in Bauchi have removed the 2 eyes of an innocent boy identified as Haruna Usman, the son of a Fulani Cattle rearer. His father Mallam Usman Muyalbi narrated how his son lost his two eyes in a chat with News Agency of Nigeria today.
Hear what he said:

“As we were rearing the cows, some of them veered into somebody’s farm by accident and destroyed crops.
“I then decided to go and inform the owner of the farm, so that we can assess the damage for me to settle him. I left Haruna to keep watch over the cows but when I returned at about 1:00 p.m., my son was nowhere to be found.
“I later heard him crying inside a nearby valley and upon getting there, discovered that his two eyes had been removed,”

Mayalbi, whose son had been admitted at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, (ATBU-TH) Bauchi, therefore appealed to government and wealthy individuals to help his son regain his sight. Continue...

EBOLA UPDATE: Finally Experts Have Discovered The Drug For Ebola

Health workers have hailed reported success of the experimental drug, ZMapp, on Ebola infected American doctor, Dr Kent Brantly and American Missionary Health worker, Ms. Nancy Writebol.

Within an hour of receiving ZMapp, the Ebola-infected Dr. Brantly’s condition dramatically improved. He was said to have began breathing easier; the rash over his trunk faded away. One of his doctors described the events that followed after he was given the drug as “miraculous.”

The female health worker, Ms. Writebol, also received a vial of the medication. Although her response was not as remarkable at first, doctors administered a second dose of the drug on her again on Sunday, and this time it resulted in significant improvement.

A medical doctor, Dr Osahon Enabulele, noted that with over 1,600 persons in the West African sub-region so far infected with the Ebola virus and a death toll of over 887 (as at August 1, 2014), it is heart-warming that some experimental drugs for treatment of Ebola viral disease such as ZMapp and BCX4430 have shown great potential. University Student Who Killed Father Inside Reseemers Church Now Faces Murder Trial

Tola Ajayi, the 21-year-old student of Redeemers’ University, who killed his 60-year-old father, Charles Ajayi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was yesterday arraigned before a chief magistrate’s court sitting in Owode-Egba in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state for murder. The suspect, who was arraigned by the Ogun State Police Command, on a count charge of murder, was called to the dock at 9:58 am in suit number MOO/276c/2014.
The charge sheet read:

“You, Tola Ajayi, 21, on July 3 2014 at about 4 am at Cannanland Street, RCCG Camp, Mowe in the Owode Egba Magistrate Court District did unlawfully kill one Charles Ajayi, aged 60, by macheting him with knife and cutlass and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.”

The 300 level student of History and International Relations, was said to have stabbed his father to death at about 4 am at Canaanland Street, Redeemed Christian Church of God Camp, Mowe in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state. Continue...
