Police Reveal - 'Boko Haram Killed No JAMB Candidates In Maiduguri'

Following the nationwide UTME exams carried out yesterday in the country, the Police have come out to debunk reports that some applicants lost their lives in Maiduguri. The Commissioner of Police in Borno State, Lawal Tanko, said there were no incidents involving the death of Jamb candidates in Borno state, during or after the nationwide exams.

Mr. Tanko made this declaration in response to news carried on in the country, about 200 candidates who sat for Jamb being killed by members of Boko Haram in Maiduguri. The Commissioner stated that he knew nothing of any such reports as the exams were carried on peacefully and the candidates returned home safely after writing the exams under his personal supervision.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN):

“I was directly in charge of the police operations to ensure safety of the candidates in all the examination venues in Maiduguri.
“We conducted the examination in peace without any incident in all the centres in Maiduguri.
“As I speak to you, the students are on their way back home.
"So, I do not know which attack you are talking about in a JAMB centre in Maiduguri."

135 civilians killed in Boko Haram attacks since Wednesday

According to a report by the BBC, Boko Haram gunmen killed at least 135 civilians in three separate attacks in the North since Wednesday. This was made known by Senator Ahmed Zannah, who said the attackers first target was a teacher training college in the town of Dikwa, where they killed five people, abducted several women, then burnt down the college library before escaping.

Then the militants attacked two villages near the border with Cameroon killing a further 130 people. The senator said the attacks took place on Wednesday and Thursday. According to Amnesty International, at least 1,500 people, half of them civilians, have been killed in the north in 2014 alone.

MH370 Hijacked, Passengers Held Hostage In Afghanistan Russian Intelligence Source Claims

Unknown terrorists are said to have taken control of the missing plane and forced it to land near Kandahar. A Russian newspaper has claimed that Flight MH370 was hijacked by "unknown terrorists" and flown to Afghanistan, where the crew and passengers are now being held hostage. The extraordinary comments, attributed to a Russian intelligence source, appeared in the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper. The source told the paper: "Flight MH370 malaysia Airlines missing on March 8 with 239 passengers was hijacked.

"Pilots are not guilty; the plane was hijacked by unknown terrorists."
"We know that the name of the terrorist who gave instructions to pilots is "Hitch."
"The plane is in Afghanistan not far from Kandahar near the border with Pakistan."
