Shooting Stars striker, Moses Ogaga, dead

Troubled Nigeria Premier League side, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, have been hit with more woes with the death of one of their prolific strikers, Moses Ogaga. Ogaga, who joined Shooting Stars mid season last year, reportedly died on Wednesday morning in Ogbomosho on the way to Kano where his family was taking him for further medication. The striker reportedly died of typhoid fever.

Shooting Stars, who currently face relegation as they are rooted bottom of the league table with just three matches left this season, recently offset the medical bills of Ogaga who was initially receiving treatment at a private clinic in Ibadan. An indegene of Edo State, Ogaga grew up in Northern Nigeria where he played for top sides like Kano Pillars and Jigawa United.

Oba accused of rape by NYSC member freed

 The Alowa of Ilowa-Ijesa, Oba Adebukola Alli who was accused of rape by Miss Helen Okpar, a corper who was serving in his community as been discharged and acquitted. Helen dragged the Oba to court three years ago after claiming he sexually abused her. However, The Osun State High Court sitting in Ikirun on Tuesday said that the plaintiff, Miss Helen Okpara, failed to tender enough exhibits to convince the court beyond reasonable doubt that she was raped by the monarch. The judge also held that the plaintiff, who accused the monarch of raping her at his private residence in Osogbo, failed to prove that she was raped. He said a case of rape could only be established with exhibits such as:

Lagos driver Kehinde Tijani and his wife Grace celebrated Nigeria's 53rd independence anniversary with a big bang giving birth with a set of quadruplets at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (Luth). Mr Tijani, who is originally from Oyo State and his wife, who is a caterer, already have three sons and live in a tiny, rented one-room apartment in Okokomaiko. With the latest arrivals, they now have seven mouths to feed and Mr Tijani has already called out for help as the burden bestowed on him looks daunting. He expressed gratitude to God for the gift of children but said he is fearful of an uncertain future  due to the financial burden the births will bring. Caught unawares by the birth, which came about after his wife had medical treatment for suspected fibroids, the couple do not even have the N1m (£3,870) required to clear their medical bills.
