Police corporal kills ASP over girlfriend in Yobe

A police corporal Bitrus Andrew yesterday shot dead one Assistant Superintendent Olosuji Elegbede at a police compound in Gashua town in Yobe State over a quarrel caused by a girlfriend to both of them.

NE gathered that the incident occurred at about 9:05am after all efforts by a divisional police officer to resolve the issue failed.
A witness said the police corporal, popularly called Kwaba was bitter that his superior officer snatched a girl he has been befriending for the past eight years.

Boko Haram: Families of slain soldiers get 12 Million Naira

Borno State government has issued a total of N12 million cheques to families of officers and men of the Nigerian Army killed by members of the Boko Haram in Maiduguri, recently.

One Captain and 11 soldiers from the 174 Battalion, Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos State, were on Sunday, August 4, 2013, ambushed and killed while on special operations in the troubled area. A cheque of N1 million was given to each of the 12 dead soldiers.

Mandela spends first night at home after hospital discharge

Former South African leader Nelson Mandela has spent his first night in almost three months at his home in Johannesburg after he was discharged from hospital in Pretoria.
Mandela, 95, was admitted in early June for a recurring lung infection.

Family members have spoken of their happiness at having Mandela home again for the first time since   June 8 2013.
However the South African government has said his condition remains critical and can sometimes be unstable.
