According to Sahara Reporters, A Nigerian Army Brigade Commander simply identified as Colonel Popoola who is the acting Brigade Commander of 23rd brigade in Yola Adamawa state was shot in the shoulder on Monday November 17th during a gun battle to reclaim Hong and Gombi towns in Adamawa state from Boko Haram militants.

Colonel Popoola had led a team of soldiers drafted from Jos in a battle to reclaim the cities when he was shot in the shoulder. An army source said he has been transferred from the military hospital in Adamawa to the University College Hospital Ibadan where he will receive better treatment.

Meanwhile, four commanders who reportedly deserted their troop during the reclaiming operation have been arrested. The arrested soldiers include one Lieutenant Mohammed, the QRG commander of 234 battalion; 2nd Lieutenant UC Uche, Platoon commander of Bravo Company of the 234 battalion; Captain Lawal; and Lieutenant Buraji who is Mararaba platoon commander.

Boko Haram: Nigeria Military Recaptures, Hong, Pelia & Gombi

According to a statement made available today, 19th of November, 2014  by the Defence Headquarters says the Nigerian military operating in the North-East of Nigeria, had taken full control of Gombi, Pelia and Hong communities in Adamawa state.

“The Nigerian troops in their daring exploit have taken full control of more communities in Adamawa State, including Gombi, Pelia and Hong.

“The ongoing military operations in the North-Eastern Nigeria is to clear all areas infested by terrorists,’’ the statement read.

It also added that many terrorists were captured while some died during confrontation with the military and weapons and equipment are also being recovered while mopping up exercise is ongoing in the areas.

Dangote Refinery To Start Production In 2018

Dangote’s Lagos refinery to start operations by mid-2018. AN oil refinery, being promoted by Dangote Group, is expected to come on-stream latest by the first half of 2018, in Lagos. The plant will be able to process 500,000 barrels of crude a day, according to Dangote Industries’ operations director for petroleum refining, George Nicolaides, in an interview at the Platts African Refining Summit in Cape Town Monday.

“The site is being cleared, the plant is being designed,” Nicolaides said, adding that the organization is “close to the beginning of detailed engineering.”

In September last year, Dangote said it had agreed on a $3.3 billion loan with 12 Nigerian and foreign lenders to build the refinery as well as a petrochemical and fertilizer complex costing a total of $9 billion.

At that time, the facility in Africa’s biggest economy was expected to be completed in 2016 and the initial capacity of the refinery was put at 400,000 barrels a day.
