"Once you see any man, you see polygamy. No African man has one wife. I don't care if he's an indigenous African American or African Caribbean, it's in their nature to spread love across and to have more than one woman they love. Polygamy only puts a stamp on it to make legal. Most men have a wife, a mistress and a concubine. So, in a way, polygamy is every where in Africa and all over the world."

2015: INEC Promises To Jail Any Presidential Candidates That Spend Above N1bn On Campaign

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it had taken measures to track campaign expenditure incurred by political parties as it lifted ban on election campaigns.

The electoral body said it will sanction presidential aspirants that spend above N1billion on campaign. The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC chairman, Kayode Idowu, on Monday in Abuja stated this in an interview with journalists following the lifting of the ban on election campaigns.

“According to section 91 of the Electoral Act, 2010 as amended, the maximum expenses to be incurred by a candidate at a presidential election shall be N1 billion; for governorship, it is N200 million and the act also stipulated sanctions for candidate who flaunted the campaign spending limits.

“The sanction for presidential election is N1 million or 12 months imprisonment or both and for governor, N800,000 or nine months or both.

INEC Has Extended Voters Registration In Lagos, Kano By 2 Days

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday extended the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ogun and Lagos by two days. The extensions were announced separately by the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) in the two states.

In Ogun, the state’s REC, Mr Sam Olumekun, announced the extension in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta. He said the extension was in view of the challenges encountered in the ongoing exercise in the state.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wishes to inform the general public that the exercise has been extended by two days.
“It will now end on Wednesday Nov. 19 as against Monday, Nov. 17.

The REC warned citizens not to engage in multiple registration, saying it was a punishable offence.

“Again, people whose names appear in the voters registers but could not find their cards should not re-register as their cards shall be provided in due course.

Health Workers Go On Strike In California And West Africa Against Fighting Ebola

A healthcare strike has begun to take place in the West African countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and in the state of California. African caretakers expressed frustration with the government who did not agree to pay them a weekly stipend of $100 for treating and in being in contact with the Ebola disease. The $100 would be in compensation of their concerns, as this region of Africa remains in dire straits.

While America seems to be in the clear for now, with doctor Craig Spencer recently cured in New York City, at press time, American nurses have begun to march as well, particularly in California. In the United States, the medical field feels particularly unprepared with a shortage of tools and knowledge on how to more efficiently attend to it. With cases of it also in Dallas, Texas, Americans are asking for more rigorous precautions. National Nurses United stands behind the strikers, stating it’s no longer fair that they work “unguarded.”
